Faucet Side Sprayer Drops Hot Water Pressure After 3 Seconds

This is my first post on this forum, so please take it easy on me. :-)

The side sprayer in my kitchen is behaving abnormally. When I turn the sprayer on using only hot water, the pressure remains stable for about 3 seconds, but drops to a trickle after that. If I release the nozzle, water is diverted back to the main faucet, but pressure remains low. However, if I close and open the tap, the pressure returns; and it should be noted that letting the water run through the faucet alone (using only hot water) does not produce this drop in water pressure.

Any idea what's going on here, and how to fix this?

Thanks!
Marc

There is a diverter valve inside your faucet. I would turn off the water to the faucet then disassemble it to see if there is some debris caught in the diverter valve making it stick. If that doesn't take care of it I would replace the diverter valve.
