Kohler Sink Faucet K12177
Can't get the faucet handle off the stem of my Kohler Fairfax faucet. Can't use a puller for 2 reasons: (1) Screw securing handle is at 45 degrees to the vertical axis (2) Handle shape where attached to the faucet body is like an onion so there is no shoulder to place the puller jaws which become angled when puller's threaded shaft is aligned with the screw hole. My guess is calcium buildup is the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The 45° screw must come out one way or the other to get the handle off.
Try penetrating oil and let the oil set. Also try various Philips screwdrivers to ensure the tip has a good grip.
The screw is screwed into a plastic stem under it and it shouldn't be seized up too badly.

I have removed the screw. The angle of the screw hole is the problem when attempting to use the handle 2-jaw puller.

You shouldn't be fighting this. You might have to get it off anyway you can and call Kohler for new parts. The parts are probably free for life like Delta and Moen.
Shut off the water in case you break the cartridge.
Are you trying to lift the handle only and not the bonnet? The bonnet unscrews.

Thanks Handyone. The only thing wrong with the faucet is the hub has become hard to rotate between the double sink. I would like to remove the hub to clean and lubricate.
The handle and bonnet have to be removed before the hub can come off. The onion shaped part of the handle covers 95 percent of the bonnet so it is not possible to get access to the bonnet and unscrew it in an attempt to push off the handle. I do have Kohler literature with an exploded assembly view of the faucet with part identification.
