Same named Kohler toilets at supply house vs. home improvement stores

I got a Kohler Wellworth toilet from a supply house. it came in 2 boxes / 2 parts - the tank and the bowl. Likely could by just 1 part if needed.

Home depot had a toilet called kohler wellworth but was in a single box (tank and bowl together). Other than packaging, would you know if these were identical toilets? Guts the same? Construction the same? Just the carboard box / maybe instructions were different?

or typically is there a home improvement version of model X and a plumbing supply house version of model X?

They should be the same with different packaging. The supply house knows to give you two boxes. At the big box stores where you do the shopping, you may not know that two boxes are needed so they package them together. If they both are Kohler and both called Wellworth, they are the same animal.
