Bathtub faucet leaking constantly

The faucet in my bathtub constantly leaks and is significantly driving up my electric bill. I've already replaced all three shower stems and it still leaks. Does anyone have any solutions and would you kindly share them?

Some shower faucet bodies contain replaceable stem seats. If you know the manufacturer, search the web to see if you can get any info. All the replaceable seats I have seen (not that many) have a internal hex. A hex wrench of the correct size is required for removal and replace. Hope this helps.

As said, even though you change the seat washer, it won't seal if the valve seat is corroded. Here's a diagram of a typical shower/bath valve body (Price Pfister).

You can see the valve seats are screwed into the actual cast valve body. If you have a body like this, coat the valve's male seat threads (new seats) with a little Teflon pipe dope and screw them in using a valve seat wrench: HDX Tapered Faucet Seat Wrench-HDX156 - The Home Depot
