HELP - with removing shower assembly.

I have an unlabeled shower valve and am unable to remove the trim to check for leaks any help would be appreciated. I was able to unscrew the handle/lever and found a set screw which I removed but nothing comes off. I have pulled with some effort but dont want to break anything.

Any help would be appreciated,

tom

After loosening the set screw the knob should come off. Seeing the mineral deposits on the escutcheon I would not be surprised that the handle is really stuck on there. Spraying penetrating oil into the set screw hole and using a flexible plastic tube try to spray up behind the knob to get the oil into the shank. Give is half an hour then try wigging and pulling.

Your handle "should" be removable but could be corroded or mineral deposits have it locked in place. Try wigging, twisting and pulling. Start gentle but slowly crank up the force by wiggling and pulling harder. With luck it will start to break free.

If possible try using Lima-A-Way or CLR. Use a brush to slather it on and into the valve handle. Then I would try using the penetrating oil or P-B Blaster.

Thanks for the recommendations. It does appear to be "frozen" I will let use CLR and add more penetrating oil and let it sit today.

thanks everyone,

tom
