shower shopping, want some valve advice please....

Consumer that I am, I began the shower selection with the trim, which is Kohler Stillness K-TS949-4-CP to match the wall-mount faucets and tub filler. The description states "INCLUDES TRIM ADAPTER KITS FOR BOTH RITE-TEMP K-304/K-2971 HIFLOW AND THE NEW K-8304 SERIES VALVE" so I wonder what is the difference between the two valves I can choose from...Thanks in advance for your input and advice.

As a plumber I try to steer clear of kohler... Too expensive IMO and purchase and repair...

The 8304 is the way to go as the balance spool is built in.. I believe it ceramic type cartridge too..

The k304 is old technology IMO with separate spools.. About $300 to rebuild last time I checked but I believe prices came down if the parts are now made in Mexico I assume...

As long as they still make Moentrols I will always install these hands down... ( Moen posi temps are disliked by me..)
