installing new shower pan

I am putting a heated floor in new bathroom.I was wondering if I could put the hot water tubing under the shower pan.I was thinking if using a sand mix (or something else) under the shower pan and lay the tubing in it. Any ideas?

PS: Have hot water radiant heat in different parts of house in the floors. Plus base board radiant in the rest of house.

Running hot water into the shower during the normal course of taking a shower will sufficiently heat the floor tiles. What you need is the warmth under your feet when you get out of the shower. Your mud bed will most likely be 2 1/2" thick at the perimeter and slightly thinner near the drain. I would think that by the time you heated that up, your shower would be over.

Persistently Problematic Toilet (Weak Flush, Now Badly Clogged)

Our master bathroom's toilet has been problematic for awhile now. It started flushing weakly about a year ago, and would often require two flushes to get everything down. I would occasionally hit it with the plunger and that would seem to help a little but before long it would be doing the same. Just the other day, it clogged horrifically. No amount of plunging would get the water level to move down even a tiny bit. It was completely full, within 1/4" of overflow, so I used an old container to empty a good portion of the water down the bathtub drain. I tried baking soda/vinegar/hot water, I tried enzymatic toilet uncloggers, even leaving them to sit overnight, and nothing even caused the water level to budge a fraction of an inch. More plunging, more hot water, no luck. So I went to the hardware store and picked up a 3 ft. toilet auger. The first attempt with auger - I was able to extend it (using considerable force) to its full length. And nothing happened. I tried again, and after a serious struggle, followed by plunging like crazy, the toilet bowl finally drained. Slowly. I gave it a flush and while the water eventually went down, it was an anemic flush and the water just sort of sank down to the bottom and the toilet did not refill. So clearly there's still a problem. I really don't want to have to call a plumber to deal with this. Is there anything else I should try at this point? Thanks in advance for your help!Read More

shower arm issue

[FONT="Arial"][/FONT][COLOR="Black"][/COLOR][F Have a shower arm that is leaking at the fitting, took it out, found a rubber washer on the end of the arm that goes in the fitting (never saw that before). I put Teflon tape on the elbow with some Teflon paste and carefully screwed the elbow back in but.......cannot turn it far enough so the arm comes out straight...it remains loose which I am sure would be a problem as people adjust the head. Do not know if thee is a specific angle you have to start the arm so it will wind up tight in the right position.....know if I force it the fitting will crack. What am I doing wrong, not sure if that washer has a purpose, never saw that before but when you look into the fitting there is a stop that it would seat against. Any suggestions?
