Help with new sink install

Help with new sink install

I just installed an new stainless sink. Everything went fine except the sink hold downs are absolutely useless. I have attached a photo. The sink (also attached) has a rail around the bottom of the rim with elongated holes and you are supposed to clip the hold down into the hole and then there is a screw that supposed to tighten the hold down to lock the sink onto the counter.

The problem as you can see is the clips use a plastic or nylon round as the point where the screw pulls the clip together. Obviously they all stripped out without me hardly applying any tension.

I am looking for suggestions on a better way to lock the sink down. I know there are many creative people on this forum that may could suggest a better way to lock this sink down.

Any help greatly appreciated
