Broken u channel in top mount sink

The u channel in our top mount sink is rusted and broken

Any ideas how to get it to mount flush to the counter?

Seems it was just glued in during original install. I removed the old stuff as it was mildewed and the sink was no loger flush with surface of counter

At that point I would just replace the sink. That's probably a better long-term solution than jerry-rigging something to try to hold it tight to the counter.

What condition is the counter top at the point of contact with the sink? If it's other than stone, it could also be compromised in it's ability to secure a clip or clamp. Is it soft or crumbling?
