Disposal Turns OK, Non start
This is a 1/3 HP disposal, about 15-20 years old.
Will stick at first if not turned for a day, but then turns easily with hex key. After turning freely, it just hums when powered up.
Is horsepower too low and prone to failure like this? Help!

15-20 yrs is triple the life that I get. Usually the cases corrode prior to the motor failing.

sometimes on some models, there is a red reset button located on the bottom of the unit that trips if it seizes up. Check yours to see if it is popped out.

Thanks guys.
I can't find a button. Since it 'hums', I'm guessing the power is getting there.
I know 15-20 years is a lot and it probably has been on borrowed time. However, it has always been lightly use, 1 person in household and I bag up most garbage.
But for sure, never get 1/3 hp again. 1/2 or 3/4 next time!!
