Remove the shower head. Turn on the faucet. Does water come out of the pipe where the shower head used to be? If so the shower head is probably clogged with debris. If that wasn't it please tell us specifically what faucet assembly you have.

Its just a 1 arm assembly. I took the head off but water still runs very slow.

It may not be your problem, but with one arm shower valves BOTH hot and cold water mains need to be turned on for ANY water to flow. If one is off the shower head automatically shuts off the other. That is why they are anti-scald valves.

Yes, I would investigate the valve. You can turn off the water to the house, remove the handle and take out the cartridge. It may be as simple as a piece of debris sticking it in place.
