Faucet handle won't stop in right spot

I have a Delta two handle faucet that was Dripping. I replace the seat and spring, and the dripping stopped but the handle will not stop in the right spot. I can get the water to stop running but then if I turn it in either direction from there the water continues to run. How do I make it stop in the correct spot?

Possible you switched the faucet stems if you had both out at the same time. You could try exchanging them.

You haven't told us what faucet you have so we can't offer specific advice but... many handles go onto splined shafts. You might be able to remove the screw attaching the handle and put it back on the shaft in a slightly different position.
