Wax ring leaking

Installed new toilet after putting down new floor. Used provided wax seal, no sleeve. It leaked. Got new jumbo wax ring with sleeve. It's leaking. The flange is "1/4 below the floor . Any ideas? Thanks.

Are you saying the flange sticks 1/4" above the floor?

Below the floor. I see compressed wax through the bolt holes. Thanks.

Below the finished floor but not below the subfloor, correct?
It's normal for the wax ring to compress and ooze out in the bolt holes.

How is it leaking? Are you getting water on the floor or do you smell sewer gas?

Most often the wax seal gets damaged if you don't set the toilet perfectly. You pretty much have one shot at it... it has to go down evenly. If you tip the toilet during installation it can mean the wax is damaged on that side.
