stand up shower on/off hot/cold handle

Prepping to tile a shower. I have found shower arm and head, but no control handle. All I see is very expensive valve kits that seem meant for a tub shower combo. Mine is stand up shower, no tub. Is there another name for this that I should use to search?

So you have what is called a shower stall. You can get a basic one handle faucet. You don't need a tub diverter. The valve gets mounted inside the wall. Hot and cold water get attached to the side and a pipe goes up to the arm.

The link is just one of many available products. You can buy just the valve assembly if you already have the arm and shower head. The valves by themselves start around $65..... Moen shower valve

Most shower/tub faucet kits have a plug to block off the tub spout for shower only functionality. Simply install the plug as per the instructions provided and toss out the tub filler spout.
