Toilet running

Toilet running
I can see the water going into the overflow tube, but cannot screw to adjust the water level on the fill valve. There's normally a screw that adjusts the water level, but there is nothing there. Help please! If necessary, I will replace the valve. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

With that fill valve I think there are two ways you can adjust the water level. One way is to move the float up and down on the metal rod. You may have to squeeze the metal clip and move the float. You can also move the fill valve up and down to adjust the water height. On the tube of the fill valve is plastic slip ring. Pull the ring up so the slip ring is loose. Then the valve can be adjusted up or down to the desired level. There are detents and it can sometimes take a bit of force to get the valve to move up or down.

Thanks so much! I did adjust the clip on the metal rod which helped. I was unable to locate the slip ring. I will see how this works, and if it starts again, I'll just replace the valve. Your help is appreciated!

is it running because the valve is bad or because the seal on the bottom flapper is leaking causing the water to continuously fill?
