Replace bathroom faucet cartridge
I'm attempting to replace the cold-side cartridge in my bathroom faucet. I'm having two problems. First, I don't know how I can loosen the nut, which is in a depressed area that I can't access with the tools I have. Is this cartridge even removable? Second, I can't seem locate the manufacturer. I do see the number 4208 on the translucent plastic collar in the picture. I'd appreciate any guidance. Thank you.

Agreed, looks like a deep well socket will do the trick. And it's possible that it's a left hand thread so take it easy.

You will need a socket to remove the stems, they are right hand threaded into the faucet body. Take a stem to a good hardware store and they can maybe match it up or find a replacement in a catalog and order you new ones.

I'd like to suggest, you buy a new faucet set. For the work involved and the price you'll get a new unit that does use a cartridge style stem that will give many years of service and if you buy a name brand it will be lifetime warranty.

A new modern faucet is absolutely the best fix. Stay away from store branded faucets such as Tuscany by Menard's, Glacier Bay by Home Depot and Project Source from Lowes. I recommend Delta with Moen as my second choice.
