Reverse Osmosis drain hose issue

Hello beautiful folks ! I noticed very tiny drops of water coming from the connection of the RO system black drain hose to the drain pipe under the sink. I thought it would be best to fix it now before it gets worse. I took out the bracket holding the hose to the drain pipe and pulled out the drain hose from the plug. I noticed that the hose was not coming all the way out of the plug and through the hole into the drain pipe. Is the drain hose supposed to go all the way through the hole on the drain pipe so waste water from the system can go there ? Or, is it ok if the end of the hose is about a quarter inch from the hole ( not going through the hole in the drain pipe) ? Also, what material is used to prevent water leak from that connection ? Many thanks

Get a new saddle with a push connect.. this is the one O use..

The material is a foam rubber that makes the seal..
