Reason for upper leak in bathroom tap

I have this tap in my bathroom that has water leaking on top of the sink.

I disassembled everything, checked the o-rings, tightened up the pipes and reinstalled it, but the problem remains.

Any hint?

If it's leaking water onto the sink it's not the part that turns the water on and off. It's the seal that prevents water from coming out around the knob. On your faucet it's probably a half domed shaped piece of plastic. Tightening the retaining nut might stop the leak but will also make the lever harder to move. If that doesn't work you need to replace the part.
