Bathroom faucet water problems
So had stinky cold water from faucet in bathroom. No other faucets.
Explored / cleaned lotsa things, all failed.
Then swapped cold / hot supply lines and voila, stink gone for 24 hours.
How can that be?

If you read closely..... some of those replys are discussing the drain.
I did read something that didn't occur to ask originally..... city or well water ?
Most complaints seemed to be based on well water.
City water is chlorinated and usually doesn't have that problem.

Doesn't make much sense. It's usually the hot water side that smells.
Is that a fixture that is not used much ?

With a fixture used daily..... I don't know what could cause the cold water only at just that one fixture to smell.
The plumbing is all interconnected..... you'd expect to smell the same thing at all faucets unless the water to that fixture had sat in there for a long time.

google stinky cold water one faucet and there is fair number of responses
mostly have to do with bacteria lodged here and there in supply line; some with air trapped in supply line
I guess wait and see what now happens

true some drain but some cold faucet bath only
true ours is well water so not chlorinated
another day no stink
these are flexible metal supply lines
is the inside a solid bendable pipe or flexible plastic or what?

so swap supply lines failed; after few days stink returned in cold water; but no stink from hot
bought new supply line and put on cold side, now no stink for 4 months in cold water
so
1) both old supply lines stink on cold side; neither stinks on hot side
2) new supply line does not stink on cold side
is a puzzle but
but there is something about supply lines
