Plastic lever holding piece on Moen faucet broke and handle no longer usable

I took the handle off the faucet and saw the broken plastic piece. Only option appears to be to replace the whole sink (wouldn't even know what to call that part to search for and doubt it's available separately) but the lines emanating from the sink on the bottom are hard copper and fit solidly into the water line.
What is the best way to tackle this project?

Those are joints under the sink, just use two wrenches to disassemble then remove faucet and replace!

Or call MOEN...LIFETIME WARRANTY. They will replace part or faucet.

I called Moen and they were willing to send out a replacement kit but since it wouldn't arrive for 7-10 business days (from overseas, and then I'd have to find time to do the work) I'm just going to replace the faucet since this has been a good tenant and don't want her having to use the vice grip as the lever for that long.
