Restore black toilet bowl finish?

We bought a house with a black Kohler toilet. Itís a good toilet except that the finish on the inside of the bowl looks very dull and unsightly. Maybe itís just more noticeable because itís black. Itís not that old and not a cheap toilet. Iíve never seen this happen.

Can anything be done to restore and shine up the finish? I donít want to toss a perfectly good toilet. Thanks!

If the dullness is mineral deposits on the surface you can try white vinegar or a mineral removing cleaner like CLR. If the porcelain is scratched then regular waxing is about the only option short of replacing the toilet... and make sure to use a non-abrasive cleaner.
