Bathtub and kitchens tile walled grout coming out

Hey everyone,

Anyone know what would cause grout in a kitchen and bathtub wall to come loose like this? Was the wrong type of grout used or what it not prepped correctly?

This is in the kitcehn

this is a picture of the tile wall beside the bathtub. Nothing wrong here but just a normal picture

This is next to the bathtub

This is in the kithcen

What can i do to correct the situation?

If it's just where the wall meets the tub or counter (change of plane) then it shouldn't have been grouted at that joint - caulk or silicone is used at changes of plane.

The fix is to scrape it out and apply caulk or silicone in the joint.

Those areas should have caulked, not grouted. Any where the tile meets a different substrate or changes angles you should caulk instead of grout. You can buy caulk that matches the grout. The big box tile dept will have a selection, you find even more color matched caulk at your local tile store.

caulk or silicone is used
Do not use silicone, that is such old tech and in a few years you will be craping it out. New siliconized latex bathroom caulks with microban are the go to solution.

If you can find a stock color of this vs using a grout color tile you will be better off with time!
