Stripped set screw on shower faucet handle
Hello gang! I am trying to replace the handle on my shower faucet. We just bought the place and are making some updates... plus now it’s hard to get the shower to turn off.
Problem is, the head of the set screw is stripped out. No Allen or other wrench will turn it... just spins in the head. Now what???

Welcome to the forums.
Post a picture so we can see it..... how-to-insert-pictures.
You may have to drill the head out.

Good picture.
Doesn't look badly stripped. Have you tried using metric keys in there ?
Some are in between the SAE sizes and can be tapped into place.
I save old small screwdrivers and have them ground on an angle.
They can be tapped in across a hex screw.

So... continuing along this issue.
This is a Moen set according to the cover... but doesn’t look to have a replaceable cartridge from this picture...
this picture shows the entire access in the shower surround and it backs up to a similar shower surround behind it... ie no way to remove without ripping out a shower/tub surround. Can this be replaced like a cartridge???

Where I put an arrow is a clip. Use a probe in the hole to slide the clip up and out.
The cartridge will pull straight out.

Thanks! Believe house we built in 2013... so where would I go about finding which one I need to replace... and then finding the part? Hate to have the water off the rest of the weekend...

I'm not a plumbing pro. I don't recognize the exact model by sight.
It looks like there are numbers on that part that can be used. Possibly 1222 cartridge.
You can pull the clip to see the numbers. The cartridge will have to be forcefully removed.....it won't come out by itself.
