Couldn't get the shower to work when I pulled up the knob on the spout, replaced the diverter but had to sand it to make it fit, it was a lil thicker than the original. I am able to get the shower working, but now it appears I have water coming behind the spout inside of it.....the pics I am attaching shows that water inside & behind the spout when I have the shower head engaged. This is an old home & the copper pipe is 32 yrs. old. It is 1 1/2 inches from the tub opening, had to hack saw some of it off to make the spout fit. What would make some of the water go backwards inside the spout when the shower is running? I don't want to caulk this up til I am sure things are good. :) TY

My GF has a double bowl kitchen sink with disposer on one side and each with a dedicated p-trap. The drain on the non-disposer side has an AAV installed just downstream of the trap and is mounted up high just below the bottom surface of the countertop. When water is draining on one side, there is a gurgling sound from the other side and I can smell sewer gas. The water appears to be draining fine (no backing up) but the gurgling and the smell are telling me something isn't right. Do AAVs go bad over time? The house isn't very old (2003), so I'm guessing the AAV was installed after the home was built perhaps in attempt to fix a larger issue (I.e improper venting). Should I reconfigure things so there is only one trap and install a new AAV to see if that helps? I believe an AAV only needs to be at least 4" above the drain so I'm wondering why it was placed so high. Images attached.
