Recessed Toilet Flange

Due to tiling that was installed in my bathroom, the toilet flange is now about 7/16" below the level of the top of the tile. Just wondering what's the best way to handle this as I install a new toilet.

Should I be installing a flange extender to bring the flange up? Or is it sufficient to install an extra thick wax ring? I'd like to install a flange extender, but the (plastic) flange is warped, so the flange extender does not sit flat on the flange. (What's the best way to deal with that?)

Thanks for any advice you can give.

Yes, you need to install a flange extension. Can't give specific advice without being there and seeing it. But you might need to grind a little on the old flange to get it to lay flat. Then silicone them together and screw them down.

OK, thanks very much.

One more Q: Should the flange extender end up *above* the level of the tile or is flush or even 1/16" below OK?

+/- 1/8" is close enough in my book.
