shower pressure drops after a minute

shower pressure drops after a minute

hello like the title says when i turn on the shower it runs normal for a few seconds then drops significantly and gradually goes back up during my shower … why is this happening?

Well? Some what normal, have you checked the condition of your pressure tank or setting of the pressure switch?

I assume you are on a well. Check the air pressure in your pressure tank. It should be 2 psi less than the pump's cut in (turn on) pressure.

im not sure what a well is … but my water just come from the street?

and if by pressure tank you mean expansion tank? mine does not have an adjustable setting?

Since you have city water, pressure should not be an issue. The issue could be the pressure balancing function in your shower valve. Your description sounds like it is working, just too slow for you. The pressure balancing hardware is replaceable in many shower valves.

do you mean i have to get the mixing valve replaced? i was thinking corrosion in pipes? im no plumber so idk

You first will need to ID your shower valve by manufacturer and model. Using this data on the internet, find out if the valve has a balancing feature that is replaceable. Get a replacement and install. If this is beyond your DIY level, call a plumber.

Do you have a pressure reducing valve (PRV)? If you do I would install a pressure gauge somewhere and have someone watch wile someone else showers to see if the water pressure in the house is fluctuating.
