House was built in 1975 and has the American Standard Aquarian type single handle control.
Called them and they said that the allen screw took a 2.5mm wrench, got the screw out but the handle
will not come off probably due to corrosion.
Tried PB Blaster, WD40, and gentle heat.
Any suggestions, should I just keep increasing the heat?
The attached .pdf shows the parts list.
Something snapped, the handle feels loose and the water will not turn fully off. I capped the tub and
shower feeds so we can keep the water main on. I'm going on he assumption that the guts have to be replaced, should I just cut off the handle since a new one is under $20?
Consider getting a handle jaw puller at a hardware store. Center punch the center of the handle face. Drill a hole in the handle. The drill diameter should be same size as diameter of threaded rod part of the handle jaw puller. Drill through the plastic handle until you start drilling the metal handle insert. Insert puller jaws over handle and screw threaded part of puller up to the handle insert. Tighten the jaw puller threaded rod. If handle doesn't loosen rap the end of the threaded rod. Handle should come off.
OK so the plastic cap came off already and the main part of the handle is chrome plated metal,
so I assume that I drill the metal until I hit the shaft and then use the puller?
You are correct. Page 1 of attachment list handle insert (#11) but not the set screw while page 2 lists the handle insert( #2 ) and set screw (#3 ). I don't know which one you have. My understanding is the handle insert connects cartridge control shaft to the handle so you only need to drill deep enough to reach handle insert. The jaw puller will pull the handle off the handle insert unless the ID of hole in handle insert is bigger than threaded rod of jaw puller. I think this is easier than drilling the length of the handle insert to reach the cartridge control shaft. Suggest using some motor oil on drill when drilling. You may need a new insert and/or handle when done depending on how parts are packaged. Good luck.
I finally did this (it is an extra bathroom) and got it off with a puller.
It doesn't seem to be a cartridge type, but I suppose I can unscrew it, after turning off the water, and bring it down to the plumbing supply house:
Any advise is appreciated.
The part number was in the documentation from AS.
I called the three largest supply houses in CT and none of them had it, and they could not order it, but found it new old stock on ebay.
Installed it and a new handle and all is well.
Now that I know it fits I'll get another spare for the other bathroom.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Good job. Faucet repairs can be challenging especially when hard to ID.
For others reading along..... be sure to keep all paperwork for your plumbing fixtures.
If you don't have them... start looking for information in your spare time.
If you can't locate what you have.... it usually means it must be taken apart to ID.
That can be trying when you need immediate parts.
Good afternoon - trying to help a friend with what I thought was a simple install of a new laundry sink but seem to be struggling with sink hardware I'm unfamiliar with. There is a strange two-part adapter to attach the spout hose to the mixer. You see this small cone shaped washer I believe is designed to only allow flow going from the bottom up (if you pinch the top it opens up) but in no configuration can I add this to this setup and it will allow water to flow through. If I don't include it the setup leaks when I turn the tap on. Is anyone familiar with this adapter?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post on this forum, and I look forward to your assistance.
I just bought and installed a Kohler "Simplice" kitchen faucet. It came with factory-installed supply lines. The hot water supply line leaks where it connects to the house plumbing. When I took it apart, it appeared that the soft rubber compression washer within the faucet supply line was defective. I contacted Kohler and requested a new washer, but the Kohler representative said the supply hoses are not serviceable. They could not replace only the washer, but they would replace the whole faucet!
That's great except that the faucet is on backorder, and for the next couple of weeks we would have no kitchen faucet. I went to local plumbing supply stores without any luck, soI fitted a generic washer to the supply line, and although it is an improvement, it still leaks.
Has anyone found replacement washers that are compatible with Kohler faucet supply line compression fittings?
Thanks in advance for any guidance.
