I need to replace the cartridge in my master bath faucet as it will not shut off completely. It appears there might be a slight nick in the metal where the white part rotates. It began doing this suddenly yesterday.
I can't identify the brand or model as there is no writing on the faucet. It might be by a company called RIVO. It is over 20 years old and came from the Home Depot Design Center that they used to have. Their invoice identifies it as a Lavatory Faucet Satin Nickel / Millennium Brass. Their SKU was 512-252.
I am enclosing pictures that I hope will help. The cartridge is 2" long.
My dad recently had his bath / shower combo removed and a new shower installed. See the attached photo, which looks like a generic prefabricated shower stall. Before this there was tiling on the wall and a bathtub on the bottom with a drain more towards the right portion of the stall where the bath faucet used to be.
The company originally quoted $17,000 but then lowered it to $11,700 after some haggling. Did my dad get ripped off? I think we can still dispute the charge but there appears to be something fishy about this, especially considering that it's not made of tiles but instead uses some hard material that appears more generic.
Another thing I'll add is that the door doesn't shut uniformly from top to bottom, but this part of the home is over a driveway so the building does slump a little. Also, this home is in North Los Angeles.

Can a Huntington Brass Shower Valve using Pex be installed without securing the valve to something behind the wall? What is the code? Manufacturer instructions says go by national and local building codes??
The valve is loose behind the wall and no way to get at it?? See Pic below.
