Weird plumbing!
So I'm freshly moved into a new studio, and the bathroom tub/lavatory setup is strange. The hot water out of the lavatory (washbasin) is blistering hot, but the tub only seems to have three temperatures....ice cold, cold and lukewarm. Can someone explain that to me? It has to all be on the same plumbing, water heater, or whatever. So what is going on that I'm not understanding?

Could be the way someone set up your mixing valve. Many of them nowadays have devices on the cartridge that prevent someone from scalding themselves. So you might just need to remove the handle and make an adjustment. Without being there or seeing your parts or knowing knowing shower valve brand/number it's pretty hard to say.
