Disposal humming but that's it
It was working fine Sunday. I can turn the wheel with a long spoon no problem. Reset button isn't popped, though I did notice a small leak there which has to be fairly recent.
Disposal is a 1/2 HP badger I installed 14 years ago, so I've definitely gotten my money out of it, but seems a shame to replace it if it's something easy.

I just replaced a 10 year old one for my mom, same story, it was humming but not running. All I did was use the hex tool in the bottom un jam it. it worked but had a water leak.
If water is leaking the internal shaft seals are going and there is not much you can do but replace.

Related question - From all the marketing, it appears that a new Insinkerator should just connect to the existing hardware and keep going. Anyone have actual experience with that?

Mine was a replacement so it was simple, didn't have to change out the hardware on the sink.
I would have even swapped out the elec cord but the leak was coming through that and it was a slimly mess!

If you are replacing like for like, you don't need to replace the basket, if that's what you're asking.
