The toilet tank cracked (I have no idea how), I went to replace it, and cannot find the Peerless Pottery brand anywhere - Is there a compatible tank replacement for this make/model?
Especially with modern low water consumption toilets it is important to match the tank and bowl. They are designed to work together. A modern tank on your older bowl could result in weak flushes and clogs.
I cracked my tank in a spectacular feat of creative stupidity and unintended destruction. It is a 1950’s yellow toilet and since that color is long gone replacing the toilet meant redoing a lot of the bathroom (tub, etc.).
By great luck I found a guy selling the exact tank on ebay - and even within driving distance.
I agree you might just replace the whole toilet but if there is some reason you can’t or don’t want to maybe you could check ebay.
Here’s an example of a tank for sale, maybe you could find your exact tank if need be.
If cost is an issue I think we can all relate, but I recently was given a tip from a plumber that he was pretty impressed with the Project Source toilets from Lowes. Project Source is their store brand. Anyway, he said he had installed a few and was impressed with them. I normally never recommend store branded faucets or fixtures, but in this case I'll make an exception.
I have CPVC shut-off valves for the toilets in two of my bathrooms, both of which have decided to stop shutting the water off all the way. All I wanted to do was replace the flush valves, but nooOOOOooo, the shut-off valves won't shut off. (And I want the properly functioning shut-off valves.)
I also have enough CPVC sticking out to replace them easily this time around if I just cut the CPVC, but thinking ahead 10/20/however many years, there would be very little CPVC left for the NEXT time I have to replace a valve. And I'm planning on staying in this house a long time. So, I'm debating internally what's the best long term fix:

[*]My initial plan is a CPVC to Female adapter, then using the male threaded part of a compression fit valve (minus the knob & ferrule). Then assuming 20 years from now, if I hold a wrench around the adapter, I won't break the CPVC the next time I'm replacing a shut-off valve
[*]Or am I just living too much in the past, and should I trust a push-on? I'm confused on whether it will be able to be pulled off in the future, as easily as it may push on.

Thanks in advance.
Random bonus question: Do quarter-turn valves last any longer?Read More
Hello! I have a double-basin kitchen sink. Several years ago I removed a broken garbage disposal and didn't put in a new one. Things went fine until recently, when water started backing up into the second basin when we drained the first. We also started to get gurgling in the drain of the second basin whenever we run water in the first basin. I thought I had a clog and so removed the p-traps, but they were clear. Then I ran a 25-foot drain snake into the wall. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem as before. Here's a photo:
