Upholstering a Chaise Lounge

I am a first time upholsterer and need some advice on upholstering a chaise lounge frame I have built. It is only for light use so I am thinking of just using some thick foam over the plywood bench part. I really have no idea, though, so I would appreciate whatever advice anyone has to give me.

hi! sorry no one ever answered your question - we're a little short on upholstery pro's around here!!! did you get your chaise upholstered yet? i'm sure you could google "how to upholster" and get some pretty good step by step directions. i'm pretty sure i've heard that you'll need some batting over the foam to further soften it & round over the squared off foam corners. but i've never done more than recover a dining room chair seat, so i'm far from an expert.

if & when you get it done, i hope you'll post back with some tips for others in the same boat!

slip cover and padding question

[FONT=Georgia]I have some great armchairs that are good structurally but not my style at all. I just ordered these slipcovers that stretch to fit the chair snugly, and I am wondering if I can attach some padding to the arms of the chair before I put the covers on. The arms are rather thin, and I really love the rounded look I see on newer chairs. I thought that maybe I can just use some good-quality foam and some spray-mount, and attach the padding over the existing cloth. Will this ruin the existing cloth, or could it be removed without damage at some point in the future? Can anyone tell me if this will work, or if this is a bad idea? Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Also, what type of foam or padding should I buy? Thanks! Amy

fix for tear in leather sofa

I have a question. The top of my leather sofa has a tear. Can I sew it myself or use glue or do I have to have a professinal do it.
