coil to zig zag?
#1

Hi All,
I'm new to this kind of communication so bear with me if I goof up!
My question is about replacing coil springs in my sofa with zig zags. Both the seat AND back (older 40's 3 cushion, loose spring edge type) are tied and I just dont want to do all that tying. I used to upholster quite a bit but am definately out of shape as it has been a few years now. I am hoping it would just be easier to replace them with something else? Any suggestions or where I could get this kind of info?
Thanks

It depends on exactly how the coils, or coil units, are attached to the frame
I suspect that it would be easier to staple in (or otherwise attach) some zigzags than hand-tie the coils (it's very difficult to find pre-made "boxed" springs for cushions anymore) even if you had to finagle or fabricate something to make it work
The trick may be finding the zigzags
If you can't find them, try furniture stores that sell chairs and sofas
If they don't repair them or have access to repair parts, they may be able to refer you to a service or supplier that does
