Tape damage - Newbie mistake
I’m a hobby woodworker who decided to try a little upholstery and made a newbie mistake. I used masking tape on the edges of a vinyl upholstered panel on a headboard while applying the wood finish. When I removed the tape, it left marks on the vinyl. The material looks wrinkly where the tape was. Is there a way to repair this, or is it trash?

Thanks in advance,
Matt

I'm afraid it looks like the tape mechanically injured (stretched) the vinyl. About the only thing I can think of would be very risky and involves heating the damaged area and trying to shrink it back closer to how it was before. But, I think your work looks great. I'd just call the boo boo as the price for a bit of knowledge and go on with life and enjoy what you made. And don't worry. Most people will never notice the tape mark. You will always know it's there but most won't even notice.
