Question Amtico vinyl tile

Has anybody had experience with using Amtico brand vinyl tile? I found this brand at the Home Depot EXPO store. The tiles are 12"X12" and appear to be of high quality. They offer a very comprehensive warrenty (lifetime to the original homeowner who bought the tile). It is $5.10 per sq ft plus installation, we can install ourselves to save money, warrenty still applies if we use Amtico adhesive which is reasonably priced. I know the price borders that of ceramic tile but I don't want a cold, possibly slippery floor in the bathrooms that need new flooring. Any opinions would be appreciated.

TIA, Chris

Tile installation

While floor temperatures may be slightly cooler than temperatures at ceilings, VCT tile will tend not to be significantly warmer than ceramic tile. There are textured ceramic tiles that provide slip resistance. Ceramic tile with grout will tend to more impervious to water, which can penetrate VCT seams and lift tiles.

Tile installation

Thanks for the tip. I think we will end up going with seamless vinyl flooring unless professional installation of ceramic tile is not too prohibitive an expense.

At $5.10 per ft. That better be made of gold! What is the installation costing?

Are you sure that isn't an installed price?

You can find ceramic tile as low as 59¢ a ft. at Home Depot. Installation will vary from the mid $2 range up to $6 or slightly more, depending on the contractor, and the value they put into the installation.
