How can I stain vinyl floors?
I have a bad stain that I want to stain over. I am looking for a product that would stain/bleach vinyl white. Any ideas? I know this would not look great but it is better than the purple stain that is there.
Worst case I will use a vinyl paint but I would think a stain would be more durable.
The floor is off white so white would at least make it look less noticeable.

Changing color of vinyl floors
Staining and bleaching of vinyl floors is not recommended. Vinyl tends to react to chemicals with undesirable results. Some forum members have reported painting vinyl floors. Search this forum for threads on this topic.

Dying vinyl floor
Dyes are chemicals and will tend to result in a chemical reaction with the vinyl wear layer, producing less than desirable results. Typically, vinyl floor coverings are a picture sandwiched between a backing material and a wear layer that is constructed of vinyl or urethane. Staining and discoloration of vinyl tends to be a result of chemical reactions with the wear layer or through effects of moisture or adhesive on backing material. Some forum members have reported success painting vinyl floors and coating with nonyellowing polyurethane.
If you have left over vinyl and only one area of discoloration, perhaps a patch repair can be done. Another option is to cover the affected area with a rug. Avoid rubber backed rugs as they tend to result in a chemical reaction that discolors floor coverings.
