Exclamation floor adhesive

I have removed self stick tiles from my bathroom floor and am left with a very sticky residue. The tiles were removed from the original vinyl floor that was in there. Anyone know the best way to remove this sticky mess?

You must first determine if the new material and any adhesive you will use is compatible with the old adhesive, because you will never be able to remove all of the old.

If I were planning to install a new vinyl floor or a carpet, I would sprinkle a bit of dry floor patching compound (I use Portland Cement based material, not gypsum) on the residue, smear it around into the old glue and then start scraping with a small hand scraper. When it's smooth, I would mix a batch of floor patch properly and apply at least one coat.
