laying vinyl tiles over linoleum
#1

We are planning to install self adhesive vinyl tiles in our kitchen. There is already linoleum on the floor. My question is do we need to remove the lino before installing the tiles or can we use something to "rough up" the surface of the lino? I don't want the corners of the tiles to peel up.
Thanks!

unless your trying to save money and getting the stick on tiles cheap.....i would go back with sheet vinyl over a new subfloor.......but if you really want the tile squares....what i would do is buy some "dependable"....thats the brand name .....its a skim coat for floors and go over the entire floor with it ...after that go back with a putty knife and knock off any high spot in the skim coat this will give the tile more to stick to..........the reason for going with the sheet vinyl is because in a couple years those tile squares will shrink and dirt will get in the cracks and they will look awful
