I am installing vinyl flooring in part of a room and carpeting in the rest.I want to install the same baseboard in the whole room. How do I make up the difference in the thickness between the two, and have the baseboard look even?

Set your baseboards in both areas at the correct height for carpet. (usually about 3/8" off the floor). In the vinyl areas add 1/4 round or shoe mold after the vinyl is installed. (prime and paint before installing, touch up after the installation).
