I just bought a house that is about 40 years old. Most of the floors are hardwood but one of the bedrooms had wall to wall carpet. I lifted up the carpet and underneath is a hardwood floor that is in pretty good shape. Any advice on how I can fill in the nail and staple holes that were used to lay the carpet? Also, the finish on the floor is a little dull - can I put on another coat of finish without sanding first? If so, what is the procedure for application?
