What size staples?

Hi,

Based on the several pages of posts I read, it appears that the recommended method for attaching the 1/4" underlayment to the subfloor is staples? What size staples should be used? I have a pneumatic stapler, but it's more of a finish stapler. I would typically use it for things like attaching the back of of a cabinet/bookshelf. Would this work? I think it uses 1/4" wide staples.

Any direction would be appreciated. Thanks much.

1/4 inch crown tends to blow through the material, thus not really holding anything. I use a seven sixteenths crown with the air pressure adjusted so they don't blow through. Keep a good hammer handy and a flat trowel. Scrape the floor with the trowel after stapling to find any staple crowns that are sticking up, then pound them down. I like to float the entire floor with Ardex afterward to fill in all staple dimples and seams, then sand it to make sure it's flat. Prep is key to a good install.
