Seams Showing Through Vinyl
Hi,
We just had new vinyl flooring installed. New sub-flooring was put down and compound was put over the seams of the sheets of sub-flooring so that everything was smooth before the vinyl was put down.
We are now seeing in some places on the new floor the seam lines of the sub-flooring showing through. Someone said this may be because of moisture, but I'm not sure how that could be since the vinyl flooring went over the original floor, previous sub-flooring, plus new sub-flooring for the new vinyl.
Any ideas as to the reason for the problem and any solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Well i think the answer to your question is in what you said. It sounds like the new flooring was overlaid over everything that was already there. There is no telling what shape the subfloor was in below your orginal flooring...it may not be level in all the areas...so as the new flooring was installed and allowed to settle and the weight of traffic. It may of sunk into those dips....only way of fixing would be to rip out all the way down to original subfloor and see whats going on.
