gaps in floorboards

my project is to sand the existing floorboards, but not wanting to lift floorboards and butt together, has anyone any
ideas on how to fill gaps so I can sand floor.

What kind of floor, how big are the gaps, why do you feel the gaps need to be filled in prior to sanding?

The said floorboards are pine and one the ground floor in the house and therefore would like to cut down on drafts. I would like to fill first so as not to sand again after filling. If you can help I would be grateful

If your house has a crawl space, maybe you can go under it and fill the gaps between the boards in the subfloor instead of the main floor in the house. This would cut down on drafts and not ruin the appearance of your floor.

Help! I sanded my floor down and was ready to stain it. I wanted to use polyurthene but my husband said about using vegatable oil then minwax paste. So I did, looked beautiful but it wouldn't dry. Showed every shoe mark. So, I sanded the floor again,all the way down. I put one coat of polyurthene on the floor but it is taking forever to dry. Is that because of the oil maybe still in the wood? I want to put down a new kitchen floor by myself and would like to know..would I be better off laying floor tile or rolled flooring. Which is the easiest to do for the not too experienced? I have layed rolled flooring on a small area before, but never tackled a larger area.I really am not crazy about the look of individual tiles and not too sure how to lay them so they are centered and lined up properly. Also is it necessary to remove the old flooring. It's still in good shape, but it's not entirely smooth, it has a bit of a ripple to it. Would this affect the smoothness of a new floor?
