Does anyone have any suggestions as to a less laborious way of removing glued down outdoor carpeting from a cement patio? We have a solvent to remove the glue underneath but getting the old carpeting up is a JOB!

Sounds like whoever installed the carpeting did a really good job. This type of carpeting usually has a water proof backing and it isn't likely that the solvent would penetrate to the adhesive below.

You can rent a floor removal tool from your local rent-it center. These are designed for tile floors, but should work well on your carpeting. Once the carpet's off, then use the solvent to remove the excess adhesive.

Cool

If you can use a carpet knife and score it into long thin strips sometimes can pull it off by hand. Say 12" wide.
