OSB Underlayment for Vinyl Tile

I am putting down new vinyl floor tiles, does it matter which side of the OSB is facing up?

This OSB I have has smooth on one side and more course on the other with a darker color.

Thanks.

OSB is not an approved underlayment for vinyl tiles.

New Vinyl

Samfloor is correct. You should put cement board down with thinset over the OSB. I seen it applied over 3/4 plywood but would not recommend.

He said vinyl floor tiles not ceramic. You need to use plywood for vinyl floor tiles.

Preferably Birch plywood and not luan. Luan has voids that can collapse.
