Hi all, unfortunately I've let a shower door issue go on too long and cause a problem. I noticed some black mold around the edge of the flooring where it meets the shower so I pulled up the floor and found this. The crumbled wood is where I picked at it with a screwdriver. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking at but it seems there is about a 1/4 inch of wood flooring that is basically crumbling in that area. Below that is still solid and I haven't noticed any damage from the ceiling below. So what am I looking at for repairs? We have thought about putting tile down in the bathroom but I'm not sure what that damage is that needs to be fixed first. Of course, first step is fix the shower door but is there anything else I can do in the meanwhile? Should I spray that whole area I can see/access with bleach or...?

In a six for by six foot bathroom the existing floor is linoleum squares. I tried to remove a couple of them and it was not possible. The is no backing on the tiles. They were glued to the plywood. There was water damage to a part of the sub-floor that has been repaired. I'm prepared to have someone install my Karndean vinyl plank style floor (WP324) right over the existing linoleum since the other choice appears to be to tear out the sub-floor and start over. I don't see this as a problem this way except for leveling the floor repair and the couple of squares I partially removed. My question is what the best way to level those areas would be. I don't want to use liquid pour levelers for a couple of reasons. One is it's an old house and liquid level and level to itself level may not be the same thing. The other is I would be worried about pouring it up against the front of the tub. (btw, I'm assuming the 1 inch gap from the 1/4 inch plywood cap to the new tub would be filled mainly by a wood strip.) What other ways are there? [ATTACH]58541[/ATTACH]
