Installing LVP Over Old 1'x1' Linoleum

I had planned to remove the old linoleum squares first, but since they may contain asbestos (don't know when they were installed, but the house was built in 1966), I think I should lay the LVP on top of the squares. The LVP I bought are click together. My question concerns a drop-off in a corner of the floor; I think I should try to level the area using that self-leveling underlayment stuff (which I've never used before). The area in question is approx. 15" x 30". What do you think?
This is an upstairs bedroom which, as far as I know, will get little, if any, use (beyond it being used for storage) as long as we live here. I'm doing this project more for resale value than anything else (those 12'x12" are ugly!)
Thanks, in advance, for taking the time to share your thoughts/experience!

When going over tile, it's best to cover the surface first since vinyl is so good at telegraphing imperfections in the surface below it. Over actual linoleum, that might not be necessary.
