We are in the process of renovating a lovely 100 year old house. the upstairs floors have been done in a 10" square tile, which appears to be like vinyl or asphalt. all we know is that it is quite old. the floor is solid, but has been terribly abused, either by harsh detergents or stripper, as the finish is dull, tacky, and dark, compared to the same tiles in the adjoining closet. if water or anything is spilled on the floor, and it is not wiped up immediatly, the finish actually fades out.
We know we can replace the floor, but this is not going to happen right away, as it is a large project.
is there anything we can do, to bring this floor back to life, or make it more easily maintainable for the time being? Thanks Much

Revival of old floor

Make a stop by the janitorial supply and see what the professionals use. A stripper will be needed to strip the surface, then the tiles cleaned, sealed, and waxed.
