Vinyl Tiles
#1

I am going to install self adhesive vinyl tile in my kitchen. I just ripped up two layers of flooring and the sub-floor is wood slats in good shape and level. The only problem is there appears to be some of the felt from the first floor spread evenly over all the wood slats. Can I install the new tile directly on top or do I need to put a new subfloor on top? If I try to scrape this material off it will gouge the wood. Help!

Installing self-stick vinyl tiles
Self-stick vinyl tiles require a super smooth, clean surface to properly stick. A 1/4" plywood underlayment for vinyl floors is recommended. Go to www.doityourself.com/vinylfloors and see the vinyl tile installation info. There are some excellent tips for laying out the tile.
