Question Self-Adhesive Over Existing Floor

When placing peel and stick tiles over an existing vinyl floor is it necessary to pre-treat the existing surface with anything or can you just place without doing anything else?

Surface prep for vinyl self-stick tiles

It is very important to follow your manufacturer's surface prep, acclimation, and installatin instructions in order to maintain product warranties. Individual manufacturers tend to have their own requirements to maintain product warranties. Read and follow manufacturer's instructions for surface prep and installation instructions carefully.

I recall buying a liquid prep from Armstrong floors years ago. It acted like a primer to go over old vinyl.

Maintenance of vinyl floor products

Most major vinyl manufacturers offer strippers, sealers, and polishes for vinyl care. They tend not to offer products for surface prep for installation.
